To expand transportation options, among the projects I ‘d like to undertake with a future city council is an increase in the number of parking spots made available to car share co-ops throughout the city of Victoria. With the looming merger between Victoria Car Share and Modo (perhaps coming spring 2015) it makes sense to use this opportunity to expand car share to at least two or three spots in every neighbourhood and multiples downtown – let’s make car share a viable option for occasional users who are car free.

With more car share parking spots around the city, this could become an even more viable way for residents to have access to a single occupancy vehicle for occasional use, while remaining free from individual car ownership. And while it might seem counter-intuitive, since this is about cars, it can be counted as just one tiny step among the many actions we must take to respond to climate change. Fewer cars on the road = less greenhouse gasses.
